Ein sanftes, zerbrechliches Monstrum von einem Film. 278 Minuten dauert Takahisa Zezes "Heaven's Story" und doch bekommt man das Ding nie wirklich zu fassen. Irgendwo zwischen hysterischem Charakterdrama, blutigem Rachethriller und Erzählexperiment, lyrisch, naiv, stellenweise wunderschön, stellenweise enervierend setzt es sich zwischen alle Stühle. Nahe liegt ein Vergleich mit einem anderen, fast genauso langen und ungleich lauteren, grelleren japanischen Monstrum, Sion Sonos "Love Exposure", vor zwei Jahren im Forum zu sehen und längst zum Kultfilm avanciert. "Heaven's Story" wird, obwohl handwerklich der bessere Film, derartige Reaktionen wohl eher nicht hervorrufen. Von

Außer Atem: Das Berlinale Blog 14.02.2010 Ich gebe, bevor ich hier als der Berliner Schlechte-Laune-Bär abgestempelt werde, zu Protokoll, dass mir die beiden Wettbewerbsfilme "My Name is Khan" (warum der außer Konkurrenz läuft, weiß der Kosslick) und "If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle" von Florin Serban auf ihre sehr unterschiedliche Weise jeweils sehr imponiert haben. "Submarino" von Thomas Vinterberg allerdings hat das nicht. Der Film ist eine Zumutung, was noch kein Werturteil ist. Aber er ist mächtig stolz darauf, eine Zumutung zu sein, darauf, seine Figuren und seine Zuschauer so richtig tief in die Scheiße tunken zu können. Und dieser Stolz ist zum Kotzen. Dieser Stolz, und mehr noch die Tatsache, dass er dem Film aus jeder Pore entströmt, machen diese Geschichte zweier Brüder, denen "das Leben" (in Wahrheit natürlich das Drehbuch) nichts erspart, zum Miserabilismusporno erster Kajüte. Kurze, unvollständige Aufzählung des Elends, das sie und wir mit ihnen durchwaten: trunksüchtige Mutter, "Schuld" am Tod des kleinen Bruders, erst kaputte, dann abbe Hand, Drogensucht, lautes Radio des Nachbarn, Taufname per Telefonbuch, schwer pathologischer fetter bester Freund, Geldsorgen sowieso, Vollbart, Ex-Frau jetzt mit Baby eines anderen Mannes, Tod der Mutter, schwermütige Indie-Musik, Höllenfahrt mit Frauenchören, überfahrene Ehefrau, grisselgraue
